The Gospel is God's offer of eternal life to dying humanity.
First, there's some really bad news... We are all infected with sin (Romans 3:23). We are all deserving of God's wrath (John 3:36). But the really good news is what God has done for us... Jesus died on the cross, taking the punishment that we deserve, providing for our salvation. (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:2) Jesus was then resurrected, demonstrating that His death was indeed a sufficient payment for the sin penalty (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Jesus said, "Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15) If we place our trust in Jesus as Savior, all of our sins are forgiven, and we will be granted eternal life (John 3:16). When we receive Jesus as Savior, we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and the indwelling Holy Spirit begins the process of conforming us to the image of Christ (Romans 12:1-2). That is the good news of the gospel! For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. - John 3:36 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. - 1 John 2:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. - 1 Corinthians 15:2-4 "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!" - Mark 1:15 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! - 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:1-2 If you have any questions about knowing Jesus Christ as Savior, or just need to talk through issues of faith, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. |
